If you follow the Grateful Dead, you likely already know Big Steve. But if not, let us introduce you to a legendary figure in rock history. Starting his journey alongside pioneer of sound Owsley Stanley at Alembic, Steve became known for building and hauling huge sound systems and regulating backstage shenanigans for the Grateful Dead. Steve was Jerry Garcia’s right hand man from the beginning eventually becoming his manager and best man. Coming up in the early days of Haight-Ashbury, Steve is a lifelong advocate for music, cannabis and psychedelics and has helped shape the culture, logistics and soul of one of the most influential bands of all time. He’s even been played by Jon Belushi on an SNL skit!
This new strain of mysterious origins was hand selected by Steve himself and cultivated by Big Island Grown in Hawai‘i. 100% of the harvest is going into joints making this cultivar only available in prerolls, Steve’s preferred way of medicating.
Made with no trim or shake, these flower-powered prerolls are strong and smooth. Their hashy and earthy aroma is pleasant and reminiscent of old school Afghani kush with notes of tropical sweetness. The effects are heavy and hit like a wall of sound even for seasoned consumers.
Whether on his radio show, podcast or in his autobiography, Steve’s storytelling is all time. We channeled some of these iconic insider moments into Big Steve’s Backstage Tales; a collectible card series dropping inside the Big Steve’s 5-Packs. Each of the 5 cards tells a different story about Steve’s unique and adventurous life on the road and here in Hawai‘i.
